It feels like a strange time to post about products considering the seriousness of this pandemic and job losses happening at the moment (and with my own personal pain), but if you guys feel the way that I do, beauty blogs and Instagram scrolling (in addition to intense home cleaning) have been a helpful way to take my mind off of things. In the midst of what’s going on, I lost my father rather tragically and unexpectedly to a non-virus related health condition during the same week my state issued a stay at home order. I’m thankful to have the time that we had with him in the 5 days he was in the hospital, because the day after he passed, the hospital restricted visitation due to the virus as my state is becoming one of the epicenters. Talk about timing. It’s been hard to make sense of anything while dealing with two painful situations at once – life feels unreal and I’m pretty sure we are in the upside down right now.
I hope this blog finds you all safe and healthy and that it serves as a nice distraction in some way from the stress and scariness of it all. Let me know, how are you guys TRULY doing? Let’s chat <3.

VOTARY SUPER SEED FACIAL OIL
“Super Seed Facial Oil is made from 22 different seed oils for skin that is sensitive, in hormonal flux or unsettled. Packed with natural, plant-powered goodness, it naturally addresses sensitive skin issues to give you healthy, glowing skin .
Different life stages bring changing skin issues such as dryness, redness and loss of elasticity. Pregnancy and the menopause can unsettle skin. Stress and lack of sleep can also have an impact. When skin loses its comfort and glow, Super Seed Facial Oil can help coax it back to radiant, dewy health.”
Votary’s Super Seed Facial Oil is a lightweight oil blend made with (22!) seed oils, especially for sensitive skin types and those dealing with redness, dryness, inflammation and other sensitive issues also stemming from pregnancy and hormones. It’s incredibly pale in color (it’s almost clear) and it has a mildly nutty scent definitely due to the seed oils. If you’ve ever smelled a seed oil like cranberry seed, you will know that scent!
Before I tried this oil I wasn’t terribly excited about it and I don’t really know why – my expectations for both products were actually quite low. I think that the cream being marketed as a matte cream turned me off and then because the products are to be paired together, I figured the oil was made to work with a matte cream, so given that I don’t particularly like matte creams, how would I like this duo?
Well, I’m happy to report that my experience has blown my poor expectations out of the water! With the facial oil I think I was expecting something that might be oily and not absorb well into the skin, but I was definitely wrong. It’s lightweight but it leans on the “richer” side of being lightweight if you know what I mean, and it is definitely not oily. Rather, it has that “juicy” quality in an oil that absorbs so nicely while also leaving the skin dewy and plump at the same time. This is just what I look for in an oil – I love a good juicy one. Right now I’m alternating between 3 facial oils (the other two are from Stratia and MUN) but I’ve been reaching for this one the most – it’s so perfect and neutral that it works well with any routine. Happy to report I haven’t seen any congestion or pore clogging with this oil in the last ~3 months!

votary SUPER SEED NUTRIENT CREAM

So, this is the matte cream I was talking about in the previous section. My skin leans normal but drier the older I get and I’ve just never been into matte products – I like moisture and I love a glow. Here’s where my experience refutes what I thought this product would be like: it’s not completely matte! At least, not in the sense that it totally absorbs leaving your skin dry and dull. Rather, the “matte” finish is actually a velvety-smooth finish and leaves the skin super soft and velvety to the touch. It’s thick and pillowy in the pot and it has a thick spread on the skin, but it acts as a soothing lightweight cream that’s perfect for day or even night if you like to go lightweight. Skin is left with a natural sort of glow – it’s subtle but it’s more healthy and real – it’s not POW like you get with an oil. I use it both AM and PM – at night I just make sure my skin is adequately nourished with hydrators and a facial oil before topping it off with this cream. It’s actually a great finisher to a heavy PM routine – if you tend to get oily and shiny from the mass amounts of products you apply at night, this cream helps tone down the shine while sealing everything in. It makes for a great makeup primer as well! I often use it underneath Glossier’s Skin Tint and my mineral powder foundation.I’ll say that it’s a basic cream, there are gorgeous seed oils in it but it’s not exactly an “active” cream because it’s meant to be soothing for senstive skins. My skin feels entirely pampered when I use this cream and I love it.
