“Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.”
Boxwalla’s Wandering Woman is back this spring and has discovered two beautiful thirst-quenching treats from England!
Keeping in tow with Spring dew and April showers, the April Beauty Box*, aptly themed The Wandering Woman’s English Spring, is all about hydration. But for the skin, of course! April’s box, valuing at $125, features two products from two lovely English brands: the Ideal Moisture Level Serum by Twelve Beauty and Amly Botanical’s Silver-Rich Face Mist.

The green beauty market is saturated with facial oils and with bad marketing advice telling you that a simple oil moisturizer will suffice, which isn’t the case at all! Hydration is crucial in maintaining a healthy moisture barrier and many things, including Summer related conditions such as temperature and UV light, can cause water loss within our moisture barrier. Look for water-based products rich in humectants, such as this serum or mist, that will promote moisture-retention. Humectants include aloe, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, lactic acid, glycolic acid, sugars, sorbitol, and honey. This is great advice for hair, too!
I personally am extremely prone to dehydration, especially in the Summer with this barrage of heat, and I can never live without hydrating mists and serums. I was eager to put these two products to the test considering the weather is getting hotter here in the South and it would be a true test to the efficacy of these products against my dehydration-prone skin. Let’s see what the wandering woman has discovered this month for us!
Amly Botanicals Silver-Rich Face Mist
Retail Value: $58
“Our unique facial water is an intensely revitalising and illuminating face mist that springs from Amly – a wild-flower meadow in East Sussex. The silver-rich spring water, known for its clarifying and healing properties, is infused with organic flowers, hedgerow fruit, native herbs and exquisite essential oils of Neroli, Jasmine, Rose Otto, Chamomile, Linden Blossom and Frankincense. The restorative mist is strengthened with highly concentrated, moisture-boosting Hyaluronic Acid and scientifically proven, skin-perfecting Copper Peptides and nourishing plant Probiotics.”
I didn’t know it would feel like such a luxury to use spring water from England! Based in spring water that’s rich with silver, the Amly Botanicals Silver-Rich Face Mist is chock full of other botanicals, extracts, and beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and peptides. I love to give my skin a good spritz before applying my hydrating serum and it’s a wonderful treat to spritz at any time of the day. I like to reserve it for mornings and find it wonderfully refreshing and slightly hydrating just after my cleanse. It lays down a nice base for the hydrating serum to follow.
It has one of the most gorgeous scents of any skincare product I’ve tried, with a blend of flowers like neroli, jasmine, and linden blossom among others. It smells like an incredibly fragrant and sweet combination of jasmine and honeysuckle.
There are many more affordable + beneficial face mists on the market, but if you’re looking for a sweet floral treat to use this Spring and Summer you won’t be disappointed!

Twelve Beauty Ideal Moisture Level Serum
Retail Value: $67
“The TWELVE Ideal Moisture Level Serum is a hydro-regulative wonder product which has been designed for very dry or mature skin. This silky, light fluid that absorbs rapidly into the skin and locks in moisture to create an invisible barrier. Your complexion is boosted with a high concentration of active ingredients and fine lines and wrinkles are plumped and smoothed. The Ideal Moisture Level Serum combats damaging effects of adverse weather conditions, central heating and air conditioning.”
With my proneness to dehydration, I knew the real test would lie on this serum. With ingredients like honey, glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), this water-based serum is designed to retain moisture and provide hydration that will keep the skin happy and plump. It also contains other plant extracts for antioxidant, anti-irritant, and anti-inflammatory benefits.
I expected this serum to leave my skin with a dry feel, but thanks to the glycerin content it did just the opposite. Layered with the hydrating mist, it leaves a slight tacky finish (which I am normally opposed to) but instead of the “heavy” kind of tacky feel, my skin feels hydrated, plump, and primed to follow the rest of my skincare routine. On top of this serum I’ve been applying two drops of squalane oil, followed with my moisturizer of choice from either Blissoma or The Ordinary. As I do with the mist, I like to reserve this serum for mornings because of how much I enjoy the sensory experience of the two products combined, but also because it feels like protection against the day’s heat that’s sure to zap every ounce of moisture from my skin. On top of a lovely application, I enjoy its slightly sweet almond scent. In terms of my moisture levels (just like the name of the serum!) I’ve truly noticed a difference with my skin since introducing this into my routine. I feel like there are only a handful of truly effective, quality hydrating serums on the green beauty market and I would highly recommend this one.
AQUA, GLYCERIN*, MEL*, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PEUCEDANUM OSTRUTHIUM LEAF EXTRACT*, BUDDLEJA DAVIDII LEAF EXTRACT*, ARTEMISIA UMBELLIFORMIS EXTRACT*, MALVA SYLVESTRIS FLOWER EXTRACT*, BENZYL ALCOHOL, XANTHAN GUM, DEHYDROACETIC ACID.
Twelve Beauty’s Ideal Moisture Level Serum retails for $67/1 fl oz. and is available at twelvebeauty.com.
Once again, Lavanya, the founder at Boxwalla, has outdone herself with this creative curation. This is my first time to experience her Wandering Woman series and I’m excited to learn that she will be featured in the next box as well! With June’s Beauty Box, our wandering woman is back from England just in time for Summer to become a wandering wood nymph, where she will be grazing upon the flowers, trees, and meadows. This time she will be experiencing all that Earthwise Beauty has to offer!
