LEAF | SEED | BERRY is all natural artisan skin care and body care brand, made by hand and in small batches by founder Jessica Kennedy. This expansive natural skin care brand carries a range of cleansers, exfoliating toners, facial mists, serums, infused facial oils, scrubs, lip balms (and more!) housed in clean and beautiful packaging designed by the founder herself. Leaf Seed Berry was actually on my radar when I started getting into natural beauty a few years ago, being one of the most visible shops for natural beauty on Etsy. In August, the founder Jessica asked me if I’d like to try a few items from the range and I gladly jumped on the offer considering my long time interest in the brand. She ever-so-kindly sent me the Perfect Ten Protect & Perfect Facial Serum*, Vanilla-Infused Jojoba Facial Oil*, and Tangerine Moisturizing Lip Balm*. I’ve been testing these goodies since the later part of August and want to share these incredibly lovely, quality natural skincare items with you all!

WHAT LEAF SEED BERRY SAYS ABOUT IT —
“Our Perfect Ten Protect & Perfect Facial Serum is (we think) the answer to the ultimate face serum. True to its name, this serum has it all and then some. This superb, effective elixir helps to tone, hydrate, soften, and revitalize while targeting all those ravages of time.”
Rose Flower Water, Organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Emulsifying Wax, Glycerin, DMAE Bitartrate, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Vitamin E, Soybean Oil, Vitamin C (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Carrot Seed Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, Provitamin A (Beta Carotene), Vitamin A Palmitate, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Provitamin B5, Vitamin B3, Organic Sugar Cane Extract, Organic Bilberry Fruit Extract, Organic Sugar Maple Extract, Organic Orange Peel Extract, Organic Lemon Peel Extract, Organic Cranberry Fruit Extract, Alcohol, Castor Oil, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium EDTA
[Sidenote on a particular ingredient – vitamin C will break down when exposed to sunlight and air. Amber and miron glass (instead of clear) are more ideal for a product such as this.]
The Perfect Ten Facial Serum* (1oz) is a creamy, milky-toned lightweight elixir designed to be the holy grail, ultimate all-in-one: it tones, hydrates, softens, and revitalizes the skin while targeting fine lines and signs of aging. In a base of rose water and aloe, this serum is a host of great ingredients including skin softening and moisturizing oils, vitamins C, B5, B3, beta carotene, brightening carrot seed oil, moisture-boosting hyaluronic acid, gently-exfoliating alpha hydroxyl acids, and more.
The first thing I appreciate about this serum is that it’s water-based and lightweight, meaning it soaks in quickly leaving no heavy residue or oily shine on the skin. I find that most serums in the natural skincare market are just oil blends (which is fine) but because of my skin type and the need for something containing potent actives, I prefer water-based such as this one. After applying onto cleansed and toned skin, I find this serum is soothing, toning, and gives my skin a little boost of hydration prepping it for moisturizer after. I find when using the Perfect Ten and vanilla jojoba oil together, it makes for very moisturizing combination without being heavy and leaves my skin looking balanced. Since this kind of serum must be followed with a moisturizer (and I am using some very actively-potent cream moisturizers at the moment) I’m not able to tell if it’s the serum or moisturizers that’s providing my skin with great results lately. That’s the unfortunate side of a multi-step routine and because my skin is dry I can’t do isolated testing with just this lightweight serum, but nonetheless I definitely appreciate the immediate benefits that it provides in soothing, toning, and hydrating my skin prepping it for the next steps of the skincare routine. It’s a very lovely and effective serum at an affordable price and is definitely worth a try.

VANILLA-INFUSED JOJOBA FACIAL OIL
what leaf seed berry says about it —
“A simple, yet absolutely decadent facial oil/serum of vanilla bean-infused Jojoba oil. Infused right here under the California sun, it has the warm, sensuous fragrance of vanilla with the anti-oxidant and moisturizing properties of the Jojoba oil.”
Jojoba oil, technically referred to as a liquid wax, is a golden oil extracted from the seeds of the Jojoba plant native to the North American Southwest. Because it is composed of mostly long-chain fatty acids and alcohols with very little triglyceride content, it’s remarkably similar to the sebum (oil) that our own human skin produces. Jojoba oil is slightly higher in oleic acid so if you are acne-prone and have oily/blemished/problematic skin, jojoba actually might not be the best oil for your skin despite the way it is often recommended for those skin types. Consistently using an oil that is higher in oleic acid may result in a deficiency of linoleic acid in the skin which over time may result in generally problematic skin, like acne, oily skin that appears dry, redness, and so on. So, please take caution in choosing an oil that truly suits your skin type!
As I mentioned earlier, the combination of the Perfect Ten Serum and Vanilla-Infused Jojoba Oil* leaves my skin glowing and adequately moisturized without feeling heavy on the skin. I primarily have used it at night but it’s also great for morning use as well under makeup, and won’t leave a high-shine if going bare faced. The vanilla-infused scent of this jojoba oil is absolutely intoxicating – it smells so good! For this reason I love it for use in the hair and on the body, you can’t go wrong with having hair and skin that smells like true vanilla bean! There are so many all-over uses for jojoba oil (especially one that smells so great such as this one) and it’s an absolute treat to use.

Last but never least, let’s talk the LSB lip balms! These neatly packaged balms come in a compact metal tin that slides open to expose the balm goodness. All of their lip balms are formulated with sweet almond oil, shea butter, beeswax, essential oils pertaining to their particular flavor, and vitamin e. Jessica sent me the Tangerine Lip Balm* which has such a refreshing citrus-y orange scent and flavor. The consistency of it is quite thin, but after liberally applying on the lips and giving it some time to work its magic its very moisturizing and leaves my lips pillow soft. They offer a great and unique selection of flavors in this lip balm and I think the Rose + Vanilla lip balm sounds like such a lovely treat to use.
One of my biggest takeaways from the Leaf Seed Berry line is the care and quality that goes into these products. I imagine that it can’t be easy to create a cleanly formulated water-based serum and LSB has done it so well. The beautiful quality (I mean, just look at it!) of the vanilla-infused jojoba oil. Not to mention the beautifully unique packaging it’s all housed in, I’m in love! I’m so pleased with my experience with Leaf Seed Berry so far and they have definitely garnered my interest in their other products such as their exfoliating toners which come in Strawberry, Green Apple, Rose, Lavender, and Tea Tree. Seriously, how amazing does a strawberry or green apple toner sound? Yes, please! What do you think? What would you love to try from the Leaf Seed Berry line? Let me know in the comments below!
