August Boxwalla Beauty Box – Summer Comes Softly

Boxwalla’s August beauty box has arrived (it really shows you how fast time flies, huh?) and I’m excited to dig into the latest goodies that Boxwalla has chosen for us to experience. Before I get into it, I have great news! Although subscriptions have passed, you can pick this box up as a one-time purchase of $54.95. This rarely happens, so if you are interested, I recommend to purchase before these boxes are sold out.

Not familiar with Boxwalla? Let me fill you in! To put it simply, they like to fill boxes with things that MUST be experienced. Boxwalla is a bi-monthly subscription box service that showcases artists and artisans from around the world giving the subscriber a choice of four different interests to choose from: The Beauty Box, The Food Box, The Film Box, and The Book Box. Each box is curated with context in mind and with a story to be told, each one delivering a beautiful sensory experience. Green beauty lovers will appreciate that they have high standards when it comes to ingredients and that they actually use, love, and enjoy the products they feature. Boxwalla typically features 2-4 products including both full and generous deluxe travel-sizes. Their beauty box rings in at just $49.95 every other month, with each box valuing well over the price tag.

Themed “Summer Comes Softly“, Boxwalla’s August Beauty Box* ($131 value) includes 3 full-size skin care treats that highlight different ways to soften our Summer skin. Featuring a moisturizer and exfoliating serum concentrate from Odacité, and a delicious lip scrub from Henné Organics, the August box delivers premium skincare designed to soften skin that’s been exposed to harsh Summer elements. It’s also a continuation of our previous June box which featured Earthwise Beauty products chosen to refresh and protect our Summer skin.

Odacité Oleosomes Time Release Delivery Crème (1.69 oz / $68 value) – This skin-softening moisturizer utilizes safflower oleosomes which are structures found naturally within the plant’s seeds. These oleosomes are a natural delivery system that encapsulate nutrients slow-releasing them over the course of time that the creme is on the skin. Also contains hydrating aloe vera, soothing calendula, antioxidant-rich green tea, hyaluronic acid, wild carrot seed oil, and more.

My skincare routine feels incomplete without a moisturizer and it’s the one category of product that allows my skin to actually feel comfortable. I deal with dehydrated and even sometimes tight and dry skin, especially during Summer, and moisturizer is crucial for me on top of hydrating layers. I expected this moisturizer to be more lightweight than it is and I am pleasantly surprised by how great it feels. It leaves my skin feeling comfortably moisturized with a slightly dewy finish. I would still classify it as lightweight, but don’t be fooled by that label in thinking that it won’t do the job! It has an astringent alcohol scent, but it dissipates shortly after application. This truly is an ideal daytime moisturizer for Summer.

INGREDIENTS — Aloe  Barbadensis  [Aloe Vera] Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis [Calendula] Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis [Green Tea] Leaf Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii [Shea] Butter, Carthamus Tinctorius [Saflower] Oleosomes (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Olivate, Glycerin, Aqua, Cetyl Palmitate (and) Sorbitan  Palmitate, Daucus Carota [Wild  Carrot] Sativa Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba [Meadowfoam] Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,  Alcohol, Simmondsia Chinensis [Jojoba] Seed Oil, Crithmum [Sea Fennel] Maritimum Extract, Rosmarinus [Rosemary] Officinalis Leaf  Extract, P-Anisic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate

Odacité Pa + G Serum Concentrate (5 ml / $39 value) – This oil serum concentrate, made with papaya and geranium, is specifically formulated to treat hyperpigmentation which may be caused by sun damage, acne, or aging. Papaya fruit enzymes slough off dead skin cells unveiling fresh and glowing skin, while geranium and lemon are combined to encourage further skin-tone evening and wrinkle reduction.

While I do have the occasional post-acne mark, I don’t particularly deal with hyperpigmentation so this is a product I can’t fully test to its capability. However, exfoliation is another crucial concern of mine and I think this serum is a great addition that you can combine with any exfoliating product for further results. You can also combine it with the Oleosomes Time Release Delivery Creme as a more efficient way to deliver the serum. I also enjoy the geranium scent!

INGREDIENTS — Highest-grade cold-pressed certified virgin Papaya (Carica papaya) oil, Certified organic Geranium, Lemon (Pelargonium graveolens, Citrus limon) essential oils, Certified GMO-free Vitamin E (Tocopherols) oil

I was told this looks like ground beef. I promise that it’s just yummy sugar crystals with berry seeds!

Henné Organics Nordic Berries Lip Scrub (10ml / $24 value) – This yummy lip scrub is a jam-like meld of organic cane sugar and berry fruit seeds that will keep the lips super soft and smooth. Inspired by Swedish Nature, this lip scrub will bring a little piece of Sweden into your home.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I did a sugar lip scrub – this was MUCH needed, I tell you! Before going in with the scrub I like to prep and soften my lips with lip balm for easy removal of dead, chapped skin. It leaves my lips feeling cushiony smooth and soft and it tastes…delicious! It truly smells like fresh-picked berries – you can’t go wrong with this special treat!

August’s beauty selection was expertly chosen for their skin-softening capabilities and I’m thrilled to add these to my skincare collection which is chock full of Boxwalla’s discoveries that I’m still enjoying. This one of the best, if not THE best, beauty subscription boxes out there and you truly can’t go wrong with choosing this one. The value alone was incredible this month. If you’re curious about my take on their past beauty boxes, you can check out my previous reviews.
