Blissoma Botanical Beauty, one of my favorite plant-based skincare lines, has just re-branded and I’ve been itching to share the launch with you all!
For the unfamiliar, Blissoma is a holistic skincare brand that delivers products rooted in plant science, formulated to target demanding skincare types. Their freshly-made formulas are raw, active, and nutrient-rich, combining the best of skincare technology and traditional herbal knowledge. Blissoma is Missouri-based and founded by the lovely and knowledgeable Julie Longyear.
They sent over a few of their new products for me to try, including the star of the re-launch, their Aura Phyto Brightening Serum* (formerly known as Amend Solar Repair Serum) which is a serum formulated for targeting and preventing the signs of sun damage such as hyper-pigmentation and fine lines. Aura received the biggest update because in addition to its new name, Aura now has stable Vitamin C, more antioxidants, and an improved suite of herbs for targeting hyper-pigmentation. Blissoma allowed me to choose two other goodies to experience which I selected as well-loved favorites that I thought would pair nicely with Aura, including their Free Rejuvenating Herbal Gel Cleanser* and Peace Evening Calming Elixir*.
“Beauty grows from balance.”
As you can see from the photo above – just about everything! Blissoma now sports a new logo and packaging designs, and their products are now housed in opal glass bottles. A number of products received a few formula tweaks (nothing to affect product performance, Blissoma assures) and slight name changes, while the aforementioned Aura Phyto Brightening Serum received the biggest update in recipe and name change. Another key update is that Blissoma now groups their products by “ecosystems” instead of skin types. The new groups roughly correspond to their previous groups, but is thought to now be easier to shop between groups and not feel the need to stick to just one.
Soothe is comprised of: Free Rejuvenating Herbal Gel Cleanser + Makeup Remover, Serene Sacred Waters Tonique (formerly named Tone Peaceful Purity), Pure Sensitive Care Complex, Timeless Vitamin C Reconstruction Concentrate, Lavish Loving Recovery Beta-glucan Mask.
Sustain is comprised of: Fresh Mild Rice Facial Cleanser, Intense Ion Hydration Tonique (formerly named Tone Intense), Awake Morning Firming Facial, MoisturePeace Evening Calming Elixir, Clean Oatmilk Mellow Facial Cleansing Bar.
Defend is comprised of: Aura Phyto Brightening Serum (formerly named Amend Solar Repair Serum), Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF 25 Sunscreen.
Renew is comprised of: Lift Intelligent Energy Crème, Bright Eye Vitalizing Nutrient Serum, Glow Good Earth Exfoliant Powder, Restore Omega Miracle Facial Oil.
Rescue is comprised of: Adapt Bio Balance Tonique (formerly named Tone Adaptive), Smooth A+ Correcting Serum, Flawless Clear Condition Facial Oil, Refine Clay Renewal Treatment.
Below I will be sharing my thoughts on the Aura Phyto Brightening Serum as it’s my first time to try this product, and I will also recap my thoughts on the cleanser and moisturizer along with changes to these products.
AURA PHYTO BRIGHTENING SERUM
“Advanced botanical recipe for skin with sun damage, hyperpigmentation and fine lines. Aura Phyto Brightening Serum is the evolved version of our old Amend Facial Solar Repair Serum. We’ve packed it with a synergy of new herbs, an even broader spectrum of antioxidants and stabilized Vitamin C to make this your ultimate daily essential for amazing skin.”
Aura Phyto Brightening Serum is Blissoma’s anti-aging recipe for targeting and preventing sun damage. Stabilized Vitamin C (sodium ascorbyl phosphate) is the ultimate youth enhancer that firms and evens skin tone and reduces hyper-pigmentation, while its antioxidant qualities also protect the skin’s barrier against pollution. It also contains wasabi extract, pomegranate extract, cranberry oil, and acai oil for more antioxidant benefits. Pomella, the trademarked pomegranate extract in Aura, is one of the stars of this serum. Pomella is a whole pomegranate extract, but it is a standardized formula of the primary natural antioxidants of the pomegranate fruit, punicalagins. Punicalagins provide an array of free radical-fighting antioxidants and inflammatory benefits. Rosewater and clary sage combine to give the serum its light herbal scent.
[Aura’s updates from the previous formula are the new inclusions of wasabi extract and stabilized vitamin C, and they have swapped out aloe and jojoba for rosewater and clary sage. The herbal infusion base was also improved.]
The great thing about this serum is that it can be used day or night. When used in your AM skincare routine it works to prevent sun damage, while in both routines it will target any current sun damage you may have. Aura has a light and thin consistency that absorbs fully and quickly with no tacky residue left behind and I love that it plays nicely with other skincare layers (tacky serums are my foe!). I personally use it more often in the AM, because at night I use a separate exfoliating serum that requires a minimal amount of layers. After cleansing and misting, I apply two pumps of Aura followed by their Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF 25 – a great combo for shielding the skin against all aggressors. I don’t have any sun damage so I cannot speak as to its spot-reducing benefits, but I do have to say this serum creates an immediate brightening effect and gives my skin such a pretty and healthy glow! After using Aura, the high points of my face have this super pretty soft touch glow, which I imagine must come from the brightening herbs (licorice root, uva ursi) it contains. This glowy brightening effect alone makes this serum a winner in my book – nothing but big thumbs up from me. I am obsessed with these results and look forward to continue testing this serum to see what kind of long-term benefits it provides.

FREE rejuvenating HERBAL GEL CLEANSER
“Free is a duo-purpose, restorative gel cleanser for when you need to remove difficult makeup and all the day’s dirt in one easy, energizing wash. 100% natural, botanical recipe with vitamins, antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavonoids.”
I’ve sampled their Free Herbal Gel Cleanser in the past and I’m happy to have a full size in my stash now because this is a great every day cleanser. Free is a standard gel with a runny consistency that produces micro suds when massaged in, so it falls in line with a foaming gel cleanser, but it acts as mild and gentle as a non-foaming one. The included soapbark extract will give you the more thorough cleanse you need to take off the days grime, but in the most gentle and non-drying way. It’s also pH balanced on the more skin-friendly acidic side.
I use Free in the mornings to freshen up my skin and remove any residual skincare or oils produced over night and I occasionally use it at night as a second cleanse. I have to say, this cleanser feels so chic in its new packaging! While I did have a soft spot for their old style of packaging in which the cleansers came in metal bottles, I can’t deny how a gel cleanser looks and feels so luxurious in glass. The new packaging gets a big thumbs up from me.
[Free’s formula has been updated to include a new preservation blend – its performance has not changed.]

Peace Evening Calming Elixir
“Peace facial creme is a superb herbal treatment to hydrate and balance all skin types while you sleep. Double up on your dream-time restoration and wake up to better skin. 100% natural, botanical recipe with minerals, antioxidants, and soothing properties.”
Oh, Peace, how I cherish you! I remember when I first tried this moisturizing creme back in the Fall of 2016 and how it truly helped my skin for the better. I was in a desperate place with my skin, hoping to find something that would heal and balance it after months of oil use had caused my skin to react with eczema. At the time, I didn’t understand that our skin maintains certain ratios of the components that make up our outer barrier, and I was over-feeding it with oil-only routines and was presumably dehydrated. I randomly came across this moisturizer after seeing it in an Instagram post where the poster had mentioned that Peace had given them the most healthy looking skin. I was a bit desperate so everything sounded promising at the time, but the ingredients and brand description of it sounded like what my skin needed, so I gave it a shot along with a few of their other products. Results were near immediate for me and my skin was healed and restored within days, and I have always since held Blissoma as one of my favorite skincare brands that I truly cherish for that. Until receiving this bottle I hadn’t used Peace in over a year because I have so much skincare on my plate to test, but once I used it again for the first time I just came back to that instantly plump, dewy and healthy look it gives my skin.
If you’re in need of a restorative, healing, nourishing, and calming moisturizer I can’t recommend Peace enough. It’s light enough to wear in the day time as well which I often do! The scent grew on me considerably with its incredibly aromatic herbal qualities. I love the natural hue of this cream as well – it reminds me of pure skin health.
[Peace’s formula has not been updated. (aka, it’s perfect!)]

I have tried nearly every product in Blissoma’s collection and I have to make some more recommendations beyond these few. Their Fresh Mild Rice Cleanser is one of my favorite morning cleansers and it pairs nicely with their lightweight Awake Morning Firming Facial Moisture which smells like black tea. Smooth A+ Correcting Serum is a super effective serum for reducing texture (read my review) and the Pure Sensitive Care Complex is a wonderful healing cream that pairs well with Smooth for problematic skin types. Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF 25 (read my review) is one of their latest products – a sheer zinc based sunscreen that acts as skincare. It’s one of my faves! Their Lavish Beta Glucan Mask is a bit of a cult favorite and I love it as well for a super nourishing and healing moisture mask.
