Happy Spring, everyone! I’m excited that my first blog post of the Spring season is all about a brand that’s going to pair well with lighter, warmer weather. My skincare routine is back to my minimal ways (we’ll see how long this lasts!) and this is a brand that will complete a perfect and basic minimal routine with just 3 products.
Kewekō Skincare, founded by UK based hair and make-up artist Kerstin Weller, is a skincare brand committed to creating organic and sustainable skincare of pure origin, enjoyed by men and women alike. Their ingredients are carefully sourced and cosmos certified organic – and are free of formaldehyde, parabens, pthalates, and petroleum. Each of their products are housed in re-usable and recyclable glass packaging and their product boxes are made with recyclable and biodegradable cardboard using natural materials.
Kewekō founder Kerstin has always had an interest in natural and organic products, having been raised by parents who were eco-friendly conscious. Noticing that many organic and natural products weren’t housed in eco-friendly packaging, the idea to start her own skincare line came to Kerstin in 2012 while in Namibia working on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. As a make-up artist, whose art depends on the visual, she also wanted to create a line with a chic, appealing design that would look gorgeous on any counter top.
In addition to Mad Max: Fury Road, Kerstin has worked on other film and television show sets. She just finished working on the new Aquaman film and is currently working with the cast of Game of Thrones. Kerstin’s skincare line travels the world to be used on some of the most “famous” skin!
Kerstin kindly offered me the opportunity to test out her skincare range to which I had to say, yes! Makeup artist created and model approved? Get that stuff on my face, ASAP.
Kewekō Skincare Gentle Cleanser ($41) A creamy, gentle cleanser formulated to effectively remove dirt, makeup, and other impurities without being harsh on skin. It’s enriched with sweet almond oil to replace lost moisture fortifying the skin’s outer barrier. Lavender oil provides anti-septic benefits, while rosehip seed oil and rosemary extract deliver antioxidants. Can be used day or night.
My cleansing has never been so chic! I love using this gentle cleanser in the morning as its creamy consistency leaves my skin feeling soft and replenished. It doesn’t strip the skin nor leave behind any kind of film or residue, but just soft, freshly cleansed skin. Since their toner and moisturizer are lightweight, it’s going to be important to use a cleanser, like this one, that helps to replace moisture loss.
ON THE RISE
Kewekō Skincare Refreshing Toner ($38) Kewekō’s toning mist combines rose water and aloe with sweet notes of bergamot to deliver a refreshing and hydrating boost to the skin. With its clarifying properties, it leaves a rosey and radiant finish on the skin.
Firstly, I have to mention that this toning mist does contain alcohol denat. as its second ingredient, which can be problematic for dry or sensitive skin types. Alcohol was included in this for clarifying properties, but it is balanced with rose water, aloe, and glycerin for humectant properties. Out of the gamut of toning mists I’ve tried, this isn’t the most hydrating (as someone with dehydrated skin), but I don’t find it to be drying either. If you have oily skin and you want to opt for the most lightweight routine possible, this toner and moisturizer combo is an excellent choice. It leaves no tacky finish, but instead soft skin ready for moisturizer. Freshly misted skin allows for better absorption of moisturizer which this one is wonderful for. The mist is quite powerful and wet, so I prefer to do a few spritzes into my hand and pat on the skin, which I often do with most mists.
Kewekō Skincare Calming Moisturizer ($60) This gentle moisturizing cream contains a blend of rosemary, sweet almond oil, and lavender to leave a fresh, supple, and calmed complexion without the heaviness of a typical cream.
I’ve had my fair share of troubles with moisturizers lately, so it feels like a miracle when you land on one that works perfectly with your skin. Kewekō’s cream is a wonderful day time option as it’s lightweight leaves my skin feeling sufficiently moisturized, but it leaves no greasy finish or one that is heavy in residue. Skin is left touchable – so soft and smooth! I only use this in the morning since I prefer something a little more rich at night, so I can’t speak as to how it fares for a night moisturizer. It’s definitely a wonderful option for day though and wears well under makeup. The scent smells like a combination of lemon, lavender, and ever so slightly like sandalwood although it doesn’t contain it.
I think this is going to be a must-have moisturizer for this Summer, especially when taking humidity/pollution/sweat/hotness into consideration. Lightweight, baby!
I’m entering this Spring season with my skin getting back to basics after Winter ravaged it and I’m excited to have Kewekō in my arsenal for things I can just reach for without having to pick and select what goes together. All 3 Kewekō products play nice for a fresh and “barely there” kind of feel and I’m loving it. I highly recommend to check out Kewekō for high quality, sustainable skincare.
