• does anyone else have an affinity for basic cl • does anyone else have an affinity for basic cleansing gels?! 😍 I like a nice sensory experience but I highly highly enjoy a clear and simple cleanser, especially if it’s a little foamy and something that’s great for in-shower. This is my custom @pureculturebeauty cleanser that’s made with a gentle surfactant and a few barrier-supporting ingredients like prebiotic chicory, coconut fruit and another coconut derived postbiotic.

As I mentioned in my previous post, they have a great discount they’re running where you can get $20 off your first purchase with code TRYPCB20. When you’re first starting out you can select from two packages - the at-home skin test + custom serum, or the at-home skin test + 3 step kit with cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. You can shop the current promo using my affiliate link in my bio. 🖐

• a major thank you to @pureculturebeauty for se • a major thank you to @pureculturebeauty for sending over a full custom kit to me! Normally their 3-step kits include their serum, but since I didn’t need a refill on mine they kindly substituted it for the toner.

The key to their customization is the at-home skin test that they first send out to you which includes test strips that test for moisture levels and barrier condition. After doing the test, submitting the information and completing a lifestyle questionnare, your personal custom skincare products are live for shopping a la carte and the product(s) that you originally selected to purchase with the skin test ship out to you.

My custom products and routine involve around maintaining a healthy barrier with prebiotic/probiotic ingredients along with keeping my combo skin type in check. The cleanser is a gentle foaming gel full of prebiotic goodness, my toner and moisturizer both strengthen the outer barrier and contain antioxidants, and my serum (as talked about in a previous post) helps to keep my sebum levels in check and balanced with oils like squalane, babassu, sea buckthorn and more.

My toner, serum and moisturizer all have very lightweight feels and finishes to them and after I use my entire routine, my skin is left with a natural balanced finish that’s not matte nor dewy but is glowing. Now that I’m wearing SPF every day these are excellent lightweight products to wear underneath it.

I’m excited to share that I’m now an affiliate with the brand and I look forward to sharing more of my Pure Culture experience! They have a great discount code going on right now for a limited time - get $20 off your first purchase with code TRYPCB20. You can shop their starter kits using the affiliate link in my bio. 🖐

• up close with the @neosephiri kalahari melon s • up close with the @neosephiri kalahari melon seed oil 🍈 check out my previous post for more details.
• have you guys tried pure kalahari melon seed o • have you guys tried pure kalahari melon seed oil before? @neosephiri kindly gifted me a bottle of theirs to test out which I’ve been excited for because I’ve never experienced this oil outside of an oil blend before. It’s one of those oils that’s great to use in its pure form (like argan or jojoba) because of its fatty acid content - it’s high in linoleic acid so it’s more friendly to acneic skin types who are prone to congestion from sticky thick oils.

Neo Sephiri operates their own certified organic farm within the Kalahari basin in South Africa, where they harvest the melons themselves, cold press the seeds and filter the oil through cotton. Also interesting to note is that all of the waste from their harvest process is returned back to the land to be used as fertilizer for the next harvest.

I’m still getting to know this oil and have yet to test all of its multi-purpose ways, but so far I’m enjoying it as a moisture boost that I add to my body lotion and tonight I plan to do a little pre-shower hair mask with it! ✨
• my @cocokind collection is ever growing and I • my @cocokind collection is ever growing and I thought I’d share my thoughts on the latest round of products I’ve purchased 🖐

▫️ Daily SPF 32 [made with 21% zinc oxide] - Not to be sensational but I LOVE this sunscreen and I’m still in disbelief that I’m actually wearing spf every day now. It’s the most wearable sunscreen I’ve ever tried! It doesn’t pill so it’s buildable and meshes well with skincare, and after application I look a little bit pasty, but it subsides after 20m and within an hour it’s practically invisible. It’s also the most comfortable/wearable spf - it sets slightly tacky and dewy at first, but again it soon subsides and my skin is left glowing for the rest of the day. I like the light blurring effect it gives - it’s been my makeup without having to actually wear real makeup. Definite repurchase!

▫️ Revitalizing Eye Cream [made with Persian silk tree extract] - This eye cream has a thick spread and leaves my under eyes feeling moisturized and more firm. It doesn’t give a lot of brightening or glow to my eyes which is what I’d really like to see, but it’s not a deal breaker.

▫️ Texture Smoothing Cream and Oat to Milk Cleanser miniatures [just $4 each @ Cocokind] - Already a major fan of the texture cream! It’s a lightweight moisturizer made with celery & flax seed extract to improve texture and reduce the appearance of pores. I’ve been loving it both AM/PM, but especially in the day time layered with just a toner and facial oil, a great trio for wearing under SPF. It does kind of smell like celery, but I actually love it haha.
The jury is still out on the Oat to Milk Cleanser, but so far I’m leaning towards that it’s not for me because I find that it leaves my skin dull looking and feeling dry. I think that the emulsifier could have something to do with it because historically I tend to get dry from emulsifying oil cleansers. I’m still going to use up my sample to see if anything changes 👀

• Spring in Spain 🌷 My review on the @theboxw • Spring in Spain 🌷 My review on the @theboxwalla X @twelvebeauty April Beauty Box is up on the blog! Check it out via the link in my bio if you fancy a read.

April’s beauty box, valued at $287, includes two Twelve Beauty products to help calm stressed skin + support the barrier during this seasonal transition.

This box brings us a full size of their Intelligent Frontier Facial Oil, a barrier-supporting lightweight oil serum made with nutrition-rich unsaponifiables, pollen, sodium hyaluronate and more, as well as their Nutritive Repair Emulsion, an ultra light nighttime cream also formulated to repair + fortify the skin’s barrier.

These products work best when combined - in the PM I like to use one drop of oil + one pump of the emulsion for happy skin that feels soft and nourished - never heavy or feeling bogged down in product so that the skin can do its own repairing.

Subscriptions are still open until April 25th - you can sign up via the affiliate link in my bio for $49.95!
• I've never had a good grasp on what my skin ty • I've never had a good grasp on what my skin type is because on any given day it can feel totally different - dry & flakey one day, oily and dehydrated the next, or even sometimes normal! When @pureculturebeauty reached out to me with the opportunity to take their At Home Skin Test and to try a custom serum formulated according to my needs + test results, I figured it couldn't hurt to have an outside perspective on what might be going on with my skin.

If you'd like to see how their skin test works, feel free to check out my highlighted Pure Culture stories! In addition to the skin test, they will also have you fill out a lifestyle questionnaire. The whole process should only take about 5 minutes - it's super quick and easy! Once you've submitted all of your information, they're quick to ship out your custom products to you. Once they have your skin test results on file, you can purchase your custom products a la carte as well if you choose to go the custom serum route. Their prices are super fair and moderate in my opinion.

Based on my results, their analysis tool concluded that my skin type is combination (dry cheeks; oily t-zone) and I thought this was interesting because I've somehow glossed over the fact that combination skin exists and it accurately describes the many ways my skin feels. My results also said that my barrier condition is good, which I also thought was interesting and accurate.

As for the custom serum they've formulated for me, I'm actually really enjoying it! It's a lightweight dry-oil blend with a silky feel that was formulated to bring my combo skin back into balance. It's not like your standard oil blend though - It's based in coconut-derived emollients which lend the serum its thin consistency and super absorbency. These ingredients act almost like natural silicones, which results in a velvety soft-touch finish. I use it in combination with a toner and moisturizer and I'm happy to report that in terms of oil production, my skin seems balanced and happy so far. A small detail that I love about this serum is its push-button style dropper which actually reloads itself when you screw the top back on.

• a new blog post is up on the new @cocokind Sak • a new blog post is up on the new @cocokind Sake Body Lotion ✨ link in bio to read!

Sake is a fermented rice wine (traditionally a Japanese beverage) rich in prebiotic sugars and exfoliating enzymes. Probiotics help to stimulate growth of healthy bacterias while the enzymes work to eat away at excess dead skin cells for smoother brighter skin. It’s such an interesting ingredient to include in skincare!

Cocokind’s Scrubbing Clay body scrub also makes an appearance in my review as I bought these two at a discount as part of their Body Care Basics Duo. It’s made with upcycled coffee grounds, kaolin clay and chicory root and smells SO divine of rich coffee.
