From the Earth, Slowly: December Boxwalla Beauty Review | LEPAAR

I’m posting this review a lot later than I intended, but website issues love to get in the way of making things happen!

Also, this blog reached its 4 year anniversary this week! If you’ve stuck around with me for this long and still find my reviews informative and enjoyable, I must say thank you for reading and supporting this hobby of mine! I know that my posts are fewer in between these days, but I truthfully don’t have as much content to post because I don’t test and purchase as many products as I used to. I’ve settled into a groove of what I like, I’m more aware of what my skin likes and doesn’t like, and I try to have moments with consistency although that doesn’t usually last. I’m incredibly grateful and appreciative of the brands that still send me PR products to test (I’m in disbelief about it to this day, it feels like a small mark of success!) like Boxwalla has. This December box marks my 3 years that I have been reviewing the ever excellent Boxwalla beauty boxes and I’m eager to see what curations Lavanya has in store for 2020.

Themed “From the Earth, Slowly“, this December beauty box* epitomizes slow, thoughtful beauty including a Boxwalla-familar brand – Australian founded Lepaar Skincare. This box includes 3 products:

Although subscriptions have since closed, this box is currently available in the Boxwalla store as a One-time December Beauty Box for $69.95! Its total retail value is $151.

What is Boxwalla all about? To put it simply, they like to fill boxes with things that MUST be experienced. Boxwalla is a bi-monthly subscription box service that showcases artists and artisans from around the world giving the subscriber a choice of four different interests to choose from: The Beauty Box, The Food Box, The Film Box, and The Book Box. Each box is curated with context in mind and with a story to be told, each one delivering a beautiful sensory experience. Green beauty lovers will appreciate that they have high standards when it comes to ingredients and that they actually use, love, and enjoy the products they feature. Boxwalla typically features between 1-4 products including both full and generous deluxe travel-sizes. Their beauty box rings in at just $49.95 every other month, with each box valuing well over the price tag. If supply is available, they will offer one-time boxes after subscriptions close and they also offer non-renewing gift cycles.

A luxurious powerfully active full body nectar, composed to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, help firm, tone and strengthen the skin while protecting our spiritual equilibrium.

A powerful body, soul, mind + spirit body armor to take us through our day.

What’s it composed of? Lepaar bases their products in sun-infused Demeter biodynamic Olive Oil. Includes calendula extract, vanilla fruit extract, camellia oil, milk thistle oil. arnica, saffron, sandalwood, frankincense, myrrh, and 24K non-nano gold among more.

With my ever increasingly dry body skin I have always appreciated a good body oil and I was just pleased to find that this formula is exceptional and feels luxurious. It’s pale golden in color and the consistency is that of a medium-rich oil nectar – it pours out of that gorgeous bottle like a thin honey.

Harking back to the fact that my skin is so dry – I’ve been using CeraVe’s body cream for years as it’s the only thing that actually works for me, so I like to use body oils as a moisture boost to that cream. After a shower, I pour a little bit of Lepaar’s oil into my hand and combine it with a scoop of CeraVe – I do this for each part/limb on my body. This combo makes my skin so juicy and plump with moisture and results in that velvety look and feel which is a sign my skin is happy and adequately nourished. I really enjoy giving myself a foot massage with this oil and have noticed that it’s improved the health of my nails too. Pro-tip: this bottle comes with an orifice reducer (not a pump or pipette) and the oil comes out of it in a pour, so be careful to pour slowly, or press the bottle into your hand and tilt upside down in the same style you would do nail polish remover + cotton ball/wipe.

LUMINOUS BEAUTY BALM / Moisture Lock + Stress Recovery

A deeply hydrating, ultra soft recovery balsam with traditional medicinal qualities that nurtures the most sensitive skin, especially beneficial after element exposure.

Composed with botanical extracts of cell renewing Chamomile flower, collagen-maintaining Rose petals, free radical neutralising Carrot root, anti-inflammatory Tumeric tuber and hydrating Mullein flower, which help repair elemental damage, rejuvenates stressed and tired skin, balances sebum and calms and protects irritated, inflamed, acne-prone, and hyper sensitive skin.

What’s it composed of? Lepaar’s self-made sun-infused Olive Oil. Includes calendula extract, vanilla extract, rose flower extract, chamomile, carrot root extract, pumpkin seed oil, black cumin oil, rose otto, saffron, frankincense, myrrh, and 24K non-nano gold among more.

This beauty balm takes on a different form than your standard face balm. Rather than something stiff that needs to be scooped out and warmed up between the hands, this balm has a thin and melty consistency – think of it as a creamy oil! My pot seems to be particularly thin and melted in comparison to other photos I have seen, even when it sat in my mailbox on an incredibly cold day.

I like to use this balm at night where I would traditionally use an oil, so my routine goes: double cleanse > mist > hydrating serum > Lepaar Luminous Beauty Balm > finishing cream/moisturizer > eye cream. I’m still using African Botanics Le Masque Hydralift serum most nights, but because it pills when you apply oil-based product on top of it, I avoid using the Lepaar balm on top of it because this particular balm should be massaged in and not patted on like I would usually do with an oil. Instead, I’ve been using it on top of Stratia’s Rewind Hydrating Serum and it pairs so well with it. The resulting finish is uber moisturized, glowing happy skin.

VELVET SOLE LIP + FACE BALM / Hydrating Lip + Face Protection

A deeply hydrating moisture lock balm.

Composed with exfoliating and rejuvenating Papaya Seed oil, restoring and wound-healing Calendula extract, moisture loss [preventing beeswax and trace element providing Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt. Moisturises and protects the lips on a cellular level, as the 84 vital trace elements in Pink Himalayan Crystal salt are absorbed via the lips. Sculpts eyebrows, protects the skin around eyes, and assists in fading scars, blemishes and age spots.

What’s it composed of? Lepaar’s self-made sun-infused Olive Oil. Calendula extract, vanilla fruit extract, exfoliating papaya seed oil, saffron stigma extract, Himalayan crystal salt, myrrh resin extract + essential oil, frankincense resin extract + essential oil, and 24K non-nano gold.

Lepaar founder Johanna was kind enough to gift me a Lepaar package last year that included this lip balm (or perhaps a previous form of it) and this version is a lot softer and more pliable than old my jar which I love! It feels creamy and nourishing on the lips and has been great for soothing/eliminating chapped lips. I love that it contains himalayan salt for protection and healing too, which I don’t believe I’ve seen included in lip products before.

This Lepaar box really brightened up the start to my Winter with its gorgeous sun-infused and golden hued products. If you’d like to try these too, One-Time December Beauty Boxes are available for $69.95 while they last.

Boxwalla’s February Beauty Box subscriptions are open and this box will be featuring British brand Votary London and their Super Seed nutrient cream and facial oil duo! I’ve just started testing my products and first impressions are positive so I can’t wait to share my experience with them soon.
