Left: Cleanser, Right: Lotion
Today I have a review for you of the Kahina Giving Beauty Facial Cleanser and the Kahina Giving Beauty Facial Lotion. Kahina Giving Beauty is a natural and organic luxury brand that incorporates argan oil into every product they create, including these two. This brand sources its argan oil from the Berber women of Morocco who extract the oil using special techniques passed down to them from generation to generation. You can read more about the founder and her brand here.

how i use it + my results
I use this cleanser mainly in the morning and occasionally use it at night if I’m not wearing makeup or if my face doesn’t feel too oily. I dampen my face with warm water and massage 4-5 pumps of the cleanser into my skin. It’s really creamy and lightweight so it is easy to work in. I rinse it off and immediately follow with the rest of my routine.
This cleanser is fantastic for mornings since I look to add moisture back into my skin. My skin doesn’t get dirty over night – it does get a little oily in the forehead area – but my pillows soak it up making my face incredibly dry in the mornings. Splashing my face with water only makes it more dry as opposed to using any cleanser + water. It definitely does as the brand describes – replaces moisture loss. However, it does not remove makeup whatsoever for me. I tried to remove a very small amount of concealer around my nose and after massaging the cleanser into my face I could still see a layer of it around my nostrils. By evening time, my bare face has a decent layer of oil and residue from my oily eye balm so as a precaution against clogged pores I like to use a clarifying cleanser like the Acure Organics Facial Cleansing Gel.
I don’t expect much from a cleanser other than wanting moisturizing properties or clarifying properties. Since the cleanser only stays on my skin ~20 seconds, I don’t believe that it’s exfoliating, toning, or brightening my skin as the product description says. As I mentioned above, it is very nice and moisturizing in the mornings replenishing the oils that I lose overnight so combined with the facial lotion, my skin gets double the moisture and looks very bright and supple. Overall, I’m incredibly pleased with this cleanser and will be repurchasing in the future.

In the morning after cleansing with the Kahina cleanser and applying my eye balm, I apply 2 pumps of the facial lotion all over my face. At night I follow the same cleansing + eye balm step – I cleanse with the Acure Facial Cleansing gel, apply my eye balm, and then apply 2 pumps of the facial lotion. One slightly annoying thing about this moisturizer is that once you’ve began massaging it it soaks into the skin too quickly without hardly working it into the skin. Sometimes you’ll feel like you didn’t get it evenly distributed and you will have to apply more to those areas because it will not spread once it’s on. To make sure I distribute it evenly, I dab the 2 pumps worth of moisturizer once onto my cheeks, once onto my forehead, and then dab whatever is left by my nose and on my chin. I work fast to massage it in before it becomes too hard to spread.
I have to say this is the best moisturizer I have ever used. It leaves my skin feeling so moisturized and plump and leaves no greasy/filmy gross residue behind. It looks plump and nourished as if I moisturized with an oil, but leaves no oily layer or shine behind that you’d get with an oil. It works beautiful for prepping the skin for makeup. I have noticed that my powder foundation appears much less dry on the skin than it used to, and because this moisturizer has balanced my skins oil production I’ve noticed that there is little oil breakthrough in my makeup at the end of the day. I’ve been dealing with clogged pores for over a year now and they used to turn into big cystic pimples, but since using this moisturizer I have noticed I rarely get these kinds of pimples anymore. This moisturizer definitely has not exacerbated the clogged pores or the amount of them that I get and I believe that the lactic acid in it has helped to exfoliate and reduce texture.
My skin appears so much healthier, moisturized, nourished, and brighter and because of these reasons I definitely recommend this moisturizer. It’s not inexpensive, but considering the quality and the improvement on my skin it’s so worth the price.
