LOVE GOODLY is a $30 bi-monthly subscription box that features 4-6 (mostly full-size) non-toxic and cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle products, with each box and purchase supporting a cause. 5% of proceeds from each purchase on LOVEGOODLY.com are donated to the cause listed on the product’s shopping page. This August LOVE GOODLY is celebrating their one year anniversary with the release of an eco-luxe box that benefits the Farm Sanctuary cause. I will include more info on Farm Sanctuary at the bottom of this post! The August/September Anniversary Box* (valued at $87) includes two LOVE GOODLY exclusives: the Hurraw! Choco Mint Lip Balm and the Durrah Jewelry Rose-Gold Anniversary Necklace. Other featured brands in this month’s box include Little Barn Apothecary, Yuni, and Orglamix.
little Barn Apothecary Charcoal + Aloe Foaming face cleanser • $22
The Little Barn Apothecary Charcoal + Aloe cleanser is a treatment cleanser designed to purify the skin and reduce breakouts. Aloe keeps the skin hydrated while charcoal works to draw impurities from the pores and astringent cajeput works to get rid of bacteria and reduces excess oil.
aloe barbadensis leaf juice, aqua, saponified oil of (cocos nucifera (coconut), olea europaea (olive), cannabis sativa (hemp) seed) activated charcoal, cyamopsis tetra gonoloba (guar) gum, melaleuca leucadendron cajeputi (cajeput) essential oil, ocimum basillicum (basil) essential oil, vegetable glycerin.
This cleanser contains saponified oils and is concentrated (and remember, it’s a treatment cleanser!) so you only need the smallest amount to cleanse. The foaming is more of a light lather and comes from the saponified oil. After cleansing I do feel a slight stinging which could be attributed to the cajeput essential oil (stinging is okay, burning is not). It leaves my skin feeling soft and cleansed, but not too stripped. I would recommend it for acne-prone skin types, but not sensitive. I plan on posting more on this cleanser and my results with it in the future!
Durrah JEWELleRY Rose Gold Anniversary Necklace • $40
One of the LOVE GOODLY exclusives featured in this month’s box is the Durrah Jewellery Anniversary necklace, a rose gold heart pendant necklace made from recycled base metals. Durrah Khalil, apprenticed with Jimmy Choo and trained by Tiffany & Co, designs her bespoke pieces using high quality materials being precious and semi-precious metals. Her jewelry line is luxurious, but moderately priced and is self described as “essentially classic with a touch of modern edginess”.
Hurraw! Choco Mint Lip balm • $4.29
Another exclusive to LOVE GOODLY is the delicious new Hurraw! Choco Mint lip balm flavor! Hurraw!’s balms are among my favorites for their exceptionally clean, high-quality, and well performing formulas. This balm includes coconut oil, jojoba, cacao seed butter, and cacao seed paste. This minty chocolate flavor might just be my favorite out of all Hurraw flavors!. 100% of the proceeds from this lip balm on LOVEGOODLY.com are donated to Farm Sanctuary!
ORGLAMIX Essential Oil ROLL-ON • $18
This month you will get your pick of either the “Chill Pill” or “Hot Mama” Orglamix aromatherapy roll-on’s. Reduce stress and tension with Chill Pill, which includes ingredients like basil, rosemary, peppermint, and eucalyptus. Help those mood swings and relax with Hot Mama, containing a blend of geranium, lavender, and bay. My box came with Chill Pill, which smells so herbally refreshing. I find that it not only helps reduce stress, but also helps with nausea and headaches! Simply apply your roll-on to wrists, neck, and temples and fade away the troubles of the day!
YUNI Shower Sheets • $3
Travel-friendly skin-refreshing products are always a bonus to have whether you’re out and about or on the road, and that’s what Yuni’s Shower Sheets are for. Between showers, these wipes cleanse away sweat, dirt, and odors leaving behind refreshed cleansed skin. The hot weather has really been putting my natural deodorant to the test and I find myself needing to either shower earlier or cleanse my pits at the sink. I tested out these wipes for that exact purpose and they cleansed well and removed any trace of odor or scent, both BO and the natural scent of my deodorant which is a bit strong. These would be great for gym-goers for a little refresh afterward if showering or heading home isn’t an option.
About farm sanctuary:
“Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 to combat the abuses of factory farming and encourage a new awareness and understanding about farm animals. Today, Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s largest and most effective farm animal rescue and protection organization. We have rescued thousands of animals and cared for them at our sanctuaries in Watkins Glen, New York; Northern California (Orland); and the Los Angeles area. At Farm Sanctuary, these animals are our friends, not our food. We educate millions of people about their plight and the effects of factory farming on our health and environment. We advocate for laws and policies to prevent suffering and promote compassion, and we reach out to legislators and businesses to bring about institutional reforms.”
There are so many subscription boxes out there and with the majority of them you’re compromising in one way or another. If it’s under $20, you’re probably getting deluxe samples. If it’s $40, you’re probably getting a great deal because you’re paying a low price for expensive products, but it’s such a gamble to drop $40 a month on a box when you don’t know if you’ll like what you receive. I feel that the $30 price and the mostly-full size product guarantee makes it a winner for a subscription box service, and it’s great that each box and purchase supports a cause. I also like that most of the featured brands in this box are recognizable to me since familiarity is a nice thing.
If you’re interested in trying a subscription box service that’s affordable yet carries a nice variety of high quality products, and one that benefits a cause, I recommend to try Love Goodly! Order the August/September box here for $29.95 (free shipping within continental US) and check out their other subscription plans.
