What’s In My Makeup Bag | 07.18.16

I have a handful of products I wear just about every time I’m wearing makeup, but with this particular look that I’m loving lately I have a couple of new items I haven’t been able to put down. My What’s In My Makeup Bag posts are a glimpse into makeup items I’ve been loving and consistently wearing as of late. Be sure to check below for a limited time 20% discount on Zabana Essentials!

I’ve mentioned my love for the Zabana Essentials Glow Stick in Bare Beauty as a highlighter a few times (it gives a very natural sheen due it’s balm formula and hint of mica), but recently I’ve been using it a new way! Rather than applying it on top of makeup, I’ve been using it underneath as a glow-y primer balm. Applying this after skincare but before face primer, simply swipe it on the areas where you want a natural glow. I swipe it across my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, right above each eyebrow, and a little dab on my chin. Extra bonus: because of it’s nectarine extract your face will smell like peaches! Zabana Essentials’ Glow Stick comes in other shades as well, including a pretty bronze which I have on my wishlist.

The bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (full review here) has been my choice of base since May, only having set it aside for mineral foundations maaaybe twice. It’s a tinted moisturizer with sheer-medium coverage, is buildable, and gives a radiant natural finish. It evens out my skin tone, and although it doesn’t do the most amazing job at covering blemishes I find it gives a nice base for my Au Naturale Creme Concealer to stick to, resulting in higher coverage for those pesky spots. The Au Naturale concealer provides medium coverage, works great for both undereyes (with minimal creasing!) and blemishes/redness. I’ve always had a rough time with concealer, but this one is a big winner for me! I believe it’s had an update to its packaging and is now housed in a glass pot with a silver lid (similar to RMS style packaging). Full review with swatches on the Au Naturale concealer here. Lastly, I set my face with my bareMinerals Ready Touch Up Veil in translucent, which reduces all shine but somehow leaves a nice semi-matte finish.

I talk so often on the RMS Beauty Buriti Bronzer, but recently realized I’ve never swatched it! My swatches never do products justice, but I did my best. This is my favorite bronzer of all time! It blends out to a sheer, red/pink toned bronze. It gives a true sun-kissed look, in the way that it brings out pink and red undertones as if you actually spent a bit of time in the sun – not the orange look from tanning beds and tanning products. I’ve read from so many fair-toned girls that they don’t think this bronzer would suit them, but I have seen on other fair tones and I think it looks beautiful! It works great for contouring, too.

If I’m not wearing my Buriti bronzer, you’ll find me reaching for my sample of the Tata Harper Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Vivacious. This sample is lasting forever because you truly only need the smallest amount – it has great pigmentation. LOVE the formula. I really want to pick up Very Nice, which is a creamy everyday pinkish-nude.

Once again, my all time favorite highlighter – the Silk Naturals HD Cream Highlighter in Limelight. This highlighter is beige/neutral-toned so it’s perfect for all skin types! Gives a true lit from within look, no glitter or big shimmer particles in sight.

I picked up some new Silk Naturals eyeshadows recently and have really taken to the shade Monday, which is funny because I was disappointed with it at first, expecting something more neutral and less pink. It’s a shimmery, cool, pink-toned tan, described to have optical smoothers to make the eyes look younger. Although it’s cool and pink-toned, it’s a very subtle coolish-pink that’s very wearable! The optical smoothers give it more of a diffused shimmery look. It’s perfect for everyday wear as a one wash of color, and you can definitely play it up for night time with something darker in the crease. Haul and swatch post on this eyeshadow here.

The one and only mascara in my collection – the Root 100% Lash Mascara! I’ve been almost exclusively using this mascara since March with the exception of finishing up another old one awhile back. It’s flake-free, smudge-free (as long as I’m careful with setting my face), and gives a lot of volume to the lashes. Both times I’ve bought it I picked it up in brown which is always my preference with mascara because it makes my lashes look soft and full. Highly recommend this mascara if you’re on the hunt for an awesome, cleanly formulated mascara! Full review and a link to save 10% on your first Root order here!

Something new and VERY exciting coming soon to the H is for Love family is their new Lip Glacé. I’ve been testing this sample for just 6 days, but I fell in love with first use and have been wearing it every day since! Bee, the super kind and awesome gal at H so kindly sent me this sample alongside one of the new Rapha Harmonizing Oil Cleanser (soon to be released, as well) after I inquired about it. It has a super-moisturizing formula and gives the most natural sheer flush of red to the lips. It’s right up my alley because I don’t wear much color on the lips and when I do I opt for tinted balms. I just want to give it a quick share here before I use up my sample, but when Bee releases it I will share more info and a little swatch on Instagram, so if you are interested keep your eyes peeled! Fully intend to pick this up in full-size when it’s released!
